Birth packages
Continuous support from your midwife throughout your pregnancy, birth and postpartum, designed for hospital births.
We offer the first birth service complementary to the NHS.
We combine care continuity with the same midwife, to the safety of the hospital.
How it works
Our Services
-
Our visits complement the NHS: all midwife appointments are delivered by The Motherhood Practice, whilst essential checks (booking appointment, scans, bloods) are delivered at the hospital. We avoid duplications with the NHS appointments. We follow the NHS guidelines to schedule appointments: monthly visits until 36 weeks, then bi-weekly and weekly after 38 weeks. Care can start when you find out you’re pregnant (vs 10-14 weeks at the NHS).
Initial consultation
We start with a one-on-one consultation of ~1h30 to understand your journey so far. This session also helps your midwife to understand what matters most to you as you approach pregnancy and birth. It includes a comprehensive review of your medical and pregnancy history.
Midwife consultation
Each consultation lasts for ~1 hour and includes a full antenatal clinical check-up to monitor the pregnancy progress, with blood pressure, weight, urine testing, and general wellbeing assessment at the comfort of your house.
Workshops
The package offers 4 workshops to prepare you and your partner physically, emotionally, and mentally for birth. Whether you’re planning a natural birth or a caesarean, we are giving you the tools to feel informed and confident in every situation.

Medical handover
At 36 weeks, we offer to hand over your medical notes to your hospital to ensure they hold detailed medical records on your pregnancy and offer the best support during birth.
-
Early labour at home, monitored by your midwife
As soon as labour begins, your midwife is available for you. She will speak with you, inform your hospital, and come to your home to support you during early labour.
In the NHS, hospital admission happens once labour is well established (around 4 cm dilation). Being supported at home by your midwife allows you to stay comfortable and avoid unnecessary trips to hospital.
Active labour and delivery at the hospital, with your midwife present
When it’s time to go to hospital, your midwife will transfer with you and ensure a smooth handover to the NHS team. Your hospital midwives and doctors are then responsible for your clinical care.
Your midwife stays with you in a supportive role throughout the birth, offering reassurance and advocacy. Having a trusted figure at birth is shown to improve birth experiences and reduce the risk of birth trauma.
-
We offer at home postnatal visits by the same midwife up to 6 weeks postpartum.
We monitor you and your baby’s heath, support feeding and ensure a smooth physical and mental recovery.
We pay particular attention to your emotional wellbeing and early signs of postnatal challenges. If need be, we escalate it promptly so you get the right support as early as possible. Experiencing mental health problems after birth is very common. If symptoms are caught early and relevant support is available, they resolve quickly.

From 8am to 10pm, every day, you’ll have direct messaging access to your midwife for any question or concern, whenever they arise.

Payments
Early pregnancy is full of unknowns. That’s why you will only pay for what you need, when you need it during the first trimester.
If you choose to continue with our package later in pregnancy, the cost of the early consultations will be deducted from your overall package price.
Payments can cover the full package price or be spread over 3 instalments, due before the birth.
Some international health insurance policies may reimburse pregnancy-related expenses. Check with your provider or get in touch with us to learn more.
