Meet the Motherhood Practice Team
I trained as a midwife at the University of Padua, Italy, in 2014—one of the country’s oldest and most prestigious universities. My growing interest in the continuum of care—from preconception to postpartum—led me to join University College London Hospital as a foetal medicine midwife, where I was able to focus on life in utero. During my years in the NHS, working across all maternity departments, I recognised a significant gap between contraception and pregnancy—a critical stage that often lacks structured support. This insight motivated me to pursue an MSc in Public Health at LSHTM, specialising in health promotion, preconception care, and strategies to enhance continuity of care in order to improve maternal and newborn health outcomes. With over a decade of NHS experience, I remain deeply passionate about providing personalised, continuous care. This passion led me to establish my own practice as a private midwife, offering bespoke, holistic support to women and families.
I’m Sarah Seror, CEO at The Motherhood Practice, a new venture transforming maternity care. I’ve spent eight years as an investment professional, and I’m also a mother of two. It was my own experience of pregnancy and birth that inspired The Motherhood Practice. I’m French, and I had my children in two different countries. In France, I had one dedicated midwife who followed me throughout pregnancy, came to my home afterwards, and supported me for a full month. In the UK at the NHS, I saw twelve different midwives during one pregnancy, often with just a few minutes to ask questions. That difference was striking. Unfortunately, I’m not an isolated case: 4 out of 5 women here never meet the same midwife twice. I decided to book additional private midwifery services in an attempt to replicate the care in France, and it was a life saver. And it made me realise: women here deserve better. That’s why I created The Motherhood Practice, the service I wish had existed for all.
