About Clarissa
I trained as a midwife at the University of Padua, Italy, in 2014. What drew me in early on was the continuum of care, from preconception through to postpartum, and that led me to University College London Hospital as a foetal medicine midwife.
In the NHS, working across all the maternity departments, I noticed how thin the support is between contraception and pregnancy. It's a stage women rarely get structured care for, and it pushed me to study for an MSc in Public Health at LSHTM, focusing on preconception care and continuity-of-care models.
After more than a decade in the NHS I moved into private practice. It's the only setting where I can do the thing that brought me to midwifery in the first place: see the same woman through, from start to finish.
